Activity 3 - Observing Demonstration

Observation

First there was a single light. Then tube with gas in it was pink. When he changed it it was orange. It continued to change colors. Orange is neon.

When we put on the glasses there were rainbow colors reflecting off of all the lights in the room like on a cd. When looking at the gas tube there are several lines all around it. The lines all form a straight line looking like there next to the gas tube. This gas was Neon. There were a lot of red and orange lines on this one. I can see several lines on this spectrum.

The next gas that the professor switched it to was a tan color. This gas was Helium. There horizontal lines were more blue and green with a little bit of light pink. There are fewer lines in Helium than most of the others.

The next tube shown was Argon. To the right and left of the the Argon there are horizontal lines kind of like a rainbow. You can see many colors on this spectrum but purple sticks out to me. The tube of Argon was a light pink.

The next tube was Nitrogen. It shows many of the rainbow colors. Left to right is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.

The next tube was Carbon Dioxide. There is a lot of different colors on this spectrum. I notice a lot of variations of green and blue. To the left there are some red and oranges. The green sticks out the most.
