Activity 1 - Periodic Table of Elements

What do the numbers represent on the Periodic Table?
Upper Left number = Atomic Number (which is the number of protons in its nucleus)
Upper Right number = Atomic Mass

Mg What is this?
Mg is the symbol for Magnesium. Magnesium is an Alkali Earth Metal with the atomic number being 12. The Atomic Mass is 24.305.

What is the difference between Na and K?
Na is Sodium and K is Potassium. The atomic number for K is 19 with an atomic mass of 39.098. The atomic number for Na is 11 with an atomic mass of 22.989.
Sodium does not occur naturally on earth. Potassium occurs in nature as ionic salt and can be found in seawater. Potassium is necessary for the function of all living cells, in humans, animals, and plant life. Sodium is essential for all humans and animals but only some plant life.
