Activity 2 - Vitamin Solubility

Show the chemical structure of vitamin C and Vitamin E and describe which one it water soluble and which one is fat soluble.

Vitamin C has a molecule called ascorbic acid. Ascorbic Acid is made up of 6 carbon atoms, 8 hydrogen atoms and 6 oxygen atoms. Vitamin C is not stored in the body and needs to be replaced daily.

Vitamin E - Alpha tocopherol is the most active form of Vitamin E. The chemical formula of alpha tocopherol is C29H5002. Vitamin E is stored in the body and is not necessary for everyday life.

Vitamin C is water soluble and Vitamin E is fat soluble.
